"Every great design begins with an even better story."

~ Lorinda Mamo, designer

Graphic Design

My education started with an intensive graphic design course. I immediately fell in love with how a static design could tell a story.

When branding new businesses, owners are typically shocked to learn that what they see as a simple logo, speaks volumes. There is a psychology behind design, from shape to colour, that conveys a message, a story. That is why I spend time understanding my clients and researching how best to share their message beyond language.

The same love and care is given to any design I undertake.

Mindmapping

This is where my research for you takes on a visual life. Everything is considered.

Sketching

Oh we are going old school here folks! Paper and pencil! It’s important to consider how all elements of a design go together and consider options before spending time messing around on the computer. Sketching allows my brain to dump all the ideas and narrow down the winners.

Computerize

Clients aren’t typically impressed by my terrible sketching skills…I don’t blame them LOL. So, once I feel confident in the composition, I take it into Adobe. It takes a little more than drawing it and letting it go. Designers have to pay attention to proportions, spacing, eye-lines, colours, type contrasts, and scalability.

Present

Client feedback is paramount! You will have opportunity to tell me what you like and what isn’t working, until we figure out the perfect design for your story.

design all the things

T-shirts, mugs, notebooks, hats, bags, shoes…there is not shortage of stuff to put designs on. The key is ensuring the design is created according to the product.

merch, merch merch…

Posters, and book covers, and websites…oh my!

Layout is part of the designers toolkit, from posters and brochures, to book covers and websites. It is up to the designer to know what goes where to draw the eye where it needs to go.

This project is still one of my favourites even though my skills have progressed significantly (ignore my yucky type at the top please lol).

This project involved product photography, model styling and photography, creation of a tagline, and layout to tell a story.

What does this story tell you?

something personal

Looking for a really special gift for someone? Turn an image (or multiple) into a graphic design! Put it on your favourite merch, or print and frame it.

It’s a bit time consuming but the result is worth it as you can see by this transformation of the first lady of comedy, Betty White (may she rest).

composite art

Composite art takes multiple, unrelated images and brings them together to create something completely different. We’ve all seen the photos of kids flying through the night sky on a broom like Harry Potter. It’s fantastical and fun!

Have a dream of fighting dragons? Scaling a mountain without the danger? We can have fun with your photos to create a world that exists in your imagination.
